My wife did the same thing, but only when she was sleeping on the side facing me, so I would just get real close to her and she would typically realize I was right there and roll over.
Whens he was facing the other way she was as quiet as a church mouse.

Pics or it didn't happen ;)

You can always hit me up with questions. Be sure to talk the baby's ear off and start right away with the Star Wars training. You've a lot to catch little Babe up on!

I'm sure there will be a day in the not too distant future where I"m blogging, "HOLY HELL, THIS JUST CAME OUT OF MY CHILD" and you'll all tell me, "yep, that's normal"

Kids are wonderful, terrifying, precious, terrorizing, adorable, little demons. :)

They will zap your energy, get you filthy, ruin expensive objects, and say embarassing things. And just when you feel like you are going to pop their heads off, they will wrap their tiny arms around your neck and you'll forget all about the hard stuff and just suck in that sweet smell of little kid.

A few tips my momma gave me. Remember to dress them as you would dress yourself. If you're comfortable in jeans and a tshirt, they probably don't need that sweater and three blankets you have piled on them. Also, if feeding, burping, changing the diaper of a crying baby doesn't make the crying stop, check for a fever and then strip them from head to toe to see if something in their clothes is bothering them. Sometimes just getting them naked for a few will calm them down when they're all pissed off. Also, babies love to go outside. They spend most of their time looking under your couch, up at your chin, or at the ceiling fan. The great outdoors gives them an entirely different view.

Just a few friendly suggestions. You can put my email on your phone for quick questions any time. Also, make sure you have dyefree infant tylenol and an industrial strength snot sucker (Target, it plugs in) and you will be all set for the first major baby head cold of the year. Good luck!

It's all 100% true. Everything you just said. But don't worry, you'll forget all about your life before kids, so it won't bother you so much. And kids can bring you stuff. Like fetch dogs, but with opposable thumbs.

Love your posts... As a fellow Firefly fan I couldn't help but to actually LOL just now when I read this... Just so you know and can truly appreciate the name, we're naming our soon to be born daughter (Feb 21, 2012 due date) Kaylee Patience Carter...
:) Originally Patience was her first name because it's the only way my wife would EVER have patience... But when she intentionally mispronounced it in the "Spanish Pronunciation-- pat-e-ensay" or called her Patty (which we both hate) we moved it to her middle name and decided on the first as a tribute to one of the sweetest girls we could think of.
