So as my site closes in on 400 hits (gasp!), a few quick thoughts:
I’m feeling random today, so jump inside my head.
KB Toys announced they’re closing down today. This is bitter, as a toystore from my youth is going away, but sweet because can you More >

“ma’am we do not support AOL mail …. no, AOL makes AOL mail and we do not support it …. I know we’re the computer support for your building, but we only support your work applications … AOL is not a work application … no, it’s not ….”
This went on for about 12 minutes.

I live in Milwaukee, WI and have been a lifelong Brewers fan. The last time the Brewers made the postseason was 1982, when I was 1 year old. This last year, they made the playoffs again, and managed to win more games than our division rivals the Cubs have in the last four years (combined. Ha, suck it Cubs).
So today they announced that CC is going to sign with the Yankees, and I’m filled with sadness. Not for the Brewers, although signing a big name like him might have actually signaled that pro athletes care about more than money. If More >

I am not a Grinch, I swear it. I love Christmas and the happiness and the family and the food and presents.
What I do not like is Christmas music that we are forced to listen to earlier and earlier these days. Something just doesn’t feel right about handing out candy to trick-or-treaters while “White Christmas” plays in the background. If we’re going to have 3+ months of Christmas music, the radio stations at least need to change it up a little bit.
This is my list of Christmas songs that can just go away already. You’ve done your job, you’ve given More >

So the fiance and I have had two disagreements in our time together. The first is the argument of whether or not “nacho cheese” is considered cheese. I am of the strong opinion that if none of the ingredients came from a cow, it shouldn’t be considered cheese. She feels that since it is orange and tastes like cheese, it should be cheese. This argument highlights a few things about us:
1. We obviously live in Wisconsin, the only state where a debate like this actually raises heated feelings.
2. We are into food, but not exactly gourmet.
3. We need hobbies.
The second More >

Sorry for the delay there folks, I had a bout with illness and have emerged victorious. Having a job where you’re on the phones for 7-8 hours really doesn’t mix well with strep, but that’s a too much information and you don’t really care at all.

So last week I was working from home doing email. I wasn’t sick enough to just sleep all day, but I had no voice, so email is perfect for me. It allows me to still interact with customers, only now I’m somewhat cranky because do you know how BORING More >

me: “What seems to be your problem?”
her: “The monitor and keyboard are both broken.”
me: “Oh, um, hmm, how can you tell they’re both broken?”
her: (in a snarky tone) “Wellll, the monitor is just blinking a green light and the keyboard won’t do anything. Like when I press capslock or numlock those lights don’t come on.”
me: “OK, is your computer on?”
her: (swift intake of breath) *click*

Taken from the support log of one of my coworkers:
Problem:
client reporting problems when she tries to run Internet Exporerit takes her to intranet instead of “the internet” .I asked her if she would like Google as her homepage, client said she would like the internet as her home page.
I informed her how to use the browser to visit outside pages. She wasn’t sure the previous default, she said it was the internet and not Google.
Resolution:Renamed shortcut on desktop from “Internet Explorer” to “The Internet”Issue resolved http://feeds.feedburner.com/ThisIsWhyYourHoldTimeIsSoLong

client: “I haven’t been able to receive email for about 2 months!”me: (putting aside that she waited that long) “OK, let’s take a look at your Outlook Inbox to see what we have…”
I click on sort by date, and 300 unread emails appear at the top
client: “OH MY! I have some catching up to do!” http://feeds.feedburner.com/ThisIsWhyYourHoldTimeIsSoLong
