I was a bartender at a fairly popular bar on campus at UW-Madison for four years.  And this wasn’t your standard shot and beer joint, no sir.  This was a fancy, schmancy martini bar where we had to have many a beverage memorized, had to wear a white shirt, black pants, and a tie, and still made less than minimum wage.

To the left here is a picture of me, bowtied and suspendered out.  Now keep in mind, this was about 5 years ago, so I am significantly less cool than this now.

furnishings

Now that I’ve owned a house for awhile and put a lot of sweat into making it a nice place to live, I look back at some of the curb furniture that I had in college and post-college and laugh at how ridiculous it was.  It was completely mismatched, usually fell apart after a year or so, damaged to begin with, and always an eyesore.

Imagine my surprise when an entire store, nay an entire BRAND, is selling the same type of furniture for hundreds if not thousands of dollars.  But at least you get some rancid meatballs when you go there.

halloween: how to guide for poor kids

I have a college friend who has a blog at bad guy hideout, and she is hilarious. Ever since her role as Azrael the cat (my roommate was Gargamel in the same play, quick name that show) she’s been driving the funny bus (which is a lot like the short bus, but you’re allowed to laugh at it).
