terra nova hurts my head
Nov 3rd
I wanted to like this show, I really did. Â I’m a huge sci-fi nerd, and with no more Battlestar, Defying Gravity, SG:U, or their kind on television anymore, I had high hopes for Terra Nova, Grimm, and Once Upon a Time. Â Grimm still seems interesting, Once Upon a Time better get to the damn point soon, and Terra Nova has already lost me. Â And it wasn’t just the terrible acting, oh no. Â You’d think that if they were spending bucketloads of cash on this thing, they might have thought about the setup for the whole shebang for more than a More >

Hey, you know those things called transitions? Â Who needs ‘em? Â Not this post!
What’s a Bieber?
I don’t get the romanticizing of the vampire thing. Â To me, it’s like having a pet tiger: it might be fun and different but eventually he will eat you.
I heard a lot of really good new music this weekend that I immediately went home and downloaded so I could put it on my mp3 player and have those really good songs with me. Â You know what song is in my head today? Owl City “Fireflies.” Â Dammit.
Whilst clothes shopping, I saw this dandy shirt available:

here we come a wassailing

Last Christmas, I had done a post about my least favorite Christmastime songs. Even though we’re still two weeks away from the big day, the radio stations around here have been playing 24-hour Christmas music since mid-July, and it’s once again wearing on my nerves.
All of my picks from last year are still valid complaints; I still hate them. However I now hate “Wonderful Christmas Time†by Paul McCartney and Wings even more, so I’d bump that up a couple notches. By any measure, it’s a terrible song. Anyhate…

compelled to comment

Since apparently everyone who’s just discovered what the Forward button in the email means, and they’ve decided to test that by sending me the same freaking list over and over, I feel like I have to offer some commentary on some of the list.
Sunny Side Up and Shine have also already commented on their favorites on the list. I’ll try my best not to duplicate their efforts. Unless I disagree, then all bets are off. Sorry ladies.

My place of employment is close to a Borders Bookstore, so naturally I get most of my books there. I have a frequent buyer card, or whatever it is that you sign up for there, even though I don’t think my points are useful for anything at all. What I do get is a lot of spam, only about 1/3 of which contains useful coupons.
Today I got an email which very excitedly and merrily informed me that the new Dan Brown book had its cover art revealed! Oh my! Another story featuring Robert Langdon! If you don’t know how I More >

Animal Rights is a divisive issue, but I think most people stand somewhere between “Every living thing ever is beautiful and we shouldn’t even hurt their feelings” and “Heck, I’d eat a human if I could”. It gets a little blurrier when it comes to animal testing for products and medication; the whole benefits vs. wrongness argument.
Today is not about debating whether or not cute fuzzy bunnies and monkeys and precious little mice should be used in experimentation. No friends, today is all about “How the hell is PETA still a viable organization?”
I’m talking about this story. For those of you too More >

Can we all just agree that Nancy Pelosi is an idiot?
Either she is too dumb to understand the CIA briefing they gave her, or she wasn’t paying attention when they brought up waterboarding. Either way, not a good thing for the leader of the majority party.
“So Ms. Pelosi, we have the option of using waterboarding as an EIT and it has proven effective when we’ve employed this method….Ms. Pelosi?”
“Hang on one minute, I just got a text message from Susan Sarandon….’lol sue u make me laff’….ok, what was that you were saying?”

bored & angry

This last weekend, I spent a lot of time in the back of a van driven by other people. Usually on road trips I like to drive as I very easily get bored. I also like to stop a lot and look at strange things that we’re passing by, which is why I wasn’t allowed to drive on this trip. Speed took precedence over sightseeing this time, so here I was in the back of the van squished between coolers and jackets.
My typical response to this situation is to buy a crappy $6 paperback and read it until complete. This More >

I think it has officially gotten a little ridiculous. Carbon Dioxide is now a pollutant according to the EPA, those stalwart defenders of all that is pure and grassy.
When I think about the EPA (which I do at least once a day), only one thing comes to mind, and it’s not clean water.
Walter Peck.Yes, Walter Peck, the Ghostbuster’s nemesis. He almost single-handedly brought about apocalypse by shutting down the ghost jail because there might have been something dangerous inside. oh and by the way

So I login to Facebook and they have this new format that caught me by surprise. Instead of having everyone’s “status” updates in their normal 10pt font that can easily fade into the background, they now have it large and unavoidable. Before I could sort of scan over my friend’s updates and get a general sense of the world; now I’m assaulted by every thing by everybody I know.
Clearly this upsets the natural balance of Facebook. It is for telling other people what we’re doing, not for finding out what other people are doing. Sort of like blogging. Ahem.
So, here More >
