terra nova hurts my head
Nov 3rd
I wanted to like this show, I really did. Â I’m a huge sci-fi nerd, and with no more Battlestar, Defying Gravity, SG:U, or their kind on television anymore, I had high hopes for Terra Nova, Grimm, and Once Upon a Time. Â Grimm still seems interesting, Once Upon a Time better get to the damn point soon, and Terra Nova has already lost me. Â And it wasn’t just the terrible acting, oh no. Â You’d think that if they were spending bucketloads of cash on this thing, they might have thought about the setup for the whole shebang for more than a More >

For the past two years around Christmas, I’ve posted about the worst Christmas songs of all time. Â (If you missed those, check here and here.)
But there’s more to Christmas than just crap songs! That’s right, there’s also crap television specials!  Nothing says “Peace on Earth and Goodwill to Men” like claymation, the official sponsor of Christmas Television. In fact, there’s so many that its impossible to watch them all.  There’s only so many hours in the day, and only so many cheesy shows you can watch before you want to gouge your eyes out.
I’ve compiled a list of animated or claymated shows More >

So you might be wondering, what the heck happened to Jeff? Â Did someone finally show up at his house and say, “You know that blog thing you’re doing? Â Just…stop. Â Seriously man, you suck.” Â Actually, you’re probably not wondering that, but you’re probably nodding along with this fictional, sarcastic hero for English majors.
Unfortunately for those offended by my run-on sentences and lack of “proper” punctuation and nonsensical parenthetical comments (just like that time I thought I could eat two donuts with sprinkles) the reason for my absence is far more mundane and ordinary.

here we come a wassailing

Last Christmas, I had done a post about my least favorite Christmastime songs. Even though we’re still two weeks away from the big day, the radio stations around here have been playing 24-hour Christmas music since mid-July, and it’s once again wearing on my nerves.
All of my picks from last year are still valid complaints; I still hate them. However I now hate “Wonderful Christmas Time†by Paul McCartney and Wings even more, so I’d bump that up a couple notches. By any measure, it’s a terrible song. Anyhate…

This last week, I bought a Nintendo Wii. Why? Because I like trendy things a few years after they are popular. On a related note, do you have any pogs I can buy?
I know a few people who’ve purchased Wii Fit with the balance board, and I’ve played it. I was not overly impressed with its workouts, as it appeared to be a lot of balance exercises. I read reviews of EA Active, and it seemed to give a better workout, so I figured why not give it a shot. I’m getting married in a couple months, and even though More >
bored & angry

This last weekend, I spent a lot of time in the back of a van driven by other people. Usually on road trips I like to drive as I very easily get bored. I also like to stop a lot and look at strange things that we’re passing by, which is why I wasn’t allowed to drive on this trip. Speed took precedence over sightseeing this time, so here I was in the back of the van squished between coolers and jackets.
My typical response to this situation is to buy a crappy $6 paperback and read it until complete. This More >

I am not a Grinch, I swear it. I love Christmas and the happiness and the family and the food and presents.
What I do not like is Christmas music that we are forced to listen to earlier and earlier these days. Something just doesn’t feel right about handing out candy to trick-or-treaters while “White Christmas” plays in the background. If we’re going to have 3+ months of Christmas music, the radio stations at least need to change it up a little bit.
This is my list of Christmas songs that can just go away already. You’ve done your job, you’ve given More >
