part III: how we ate too much
Aug 26th
The Monday right after the wedding is when we went on our honeymoon. All things considered, we would have rather gone a little later, but after that week I’m glad we booked it for right after because we needed a break.
We got to the airport ungodly early, because they still tell you to be there 2 hours in advance even though it takes about 17 minutes to clear security this early. However, this did give me time to talk to the lady working the gate, and manage to get an upgrade to first class (score!) because of our honeymoon. After More >
part II: somebody’s getting married
Aug 19th
I love all things Muppets, and I would be lying if I said this song wasn’t in my head for the better part of the day.
After the rehearsal dinner, Fiancé and the bridesmaids all went to the hall to finish decorating it, then they all stayed at a hotel room together. So this leaves me, the groom, alone at home.
I wake up the next morning around 7:30, which for me is late because I’m normally up at 4:45. However, I don’t have much to do in the morning. Here is my entire to-do list for the pre-wedding:

part I: rehearsal dinner
Aug 18th
I’ve always thought the phrase “Rehearsal Dinner†sounded odd, as if everyone is practicing eating. I’ve never taken an etiquette class, but I’m still pretty sure I know how to eat fairly well. My very patient wife explained to me that it is in fact “rehearsing†the wedding, followed by a “dinnerâ€. I like this explanation more, but still I thought the name needed work. Since I was put in charge of creating the invitations for the event, I decided to change the name:
The Ceremony Rehearsal
and
Celebratory Dinner

Advance of Their Impending Nuptials
Yes, this was all on the invitation. And she More >

As part of TMI Thursday, I’m going to be sharing something that I haven’t yet talked about, with anyone actually. I generally don’t talk about this type of thing, because I can never find a good way to describe it, and then all my words just seem useless.
This Saturday, I’m getting married. That part you might know.
Before I asked Fiance to marry me, I called my grandma. My grandma married grandpa back during WWII, and they were married up until last year when he died. I told her I wanted to ask Fiance to marry me, and how did she More >
scheduling conflict

You may have noticed a dropoff in posting frequency from me, and I have to apologize, but you see, I have this wedding coming up this Saturday, and at the moment it’s kind of taking up all my time.
The good news is I’m saving up stories for future posting. The bad news is they’re probably not very interesting, beyond me taking dance lessons and trying to not make a fool of myself.
As much as possible I will try to keep up with posting, and afterwards I’m sure I’ll have some choice plums for sharing with all my blagonet friends.

So we’re in full-blown wedding planning mode now, and by “we” I mean “fiance does everything and leaves the things only a wild monkey could screw up to me”. And I’m OK with that, because when it comes to wedding stuff, I probably am only slightly more reliable than a wild monkey. The dining room currently looks like a Micheals Arts and Crafts store exploded all over it, we have piles of things in various rooms (organized piles), and every day brings fresh new decisions.
One potential disaster area that we’ve identified is our first dance; there is a very real More >
other writing assignments
Jun 23rd
I apologize for the delay, internets, but I have an actual writing assignment that I’ve been working on. Unfortunately it doesn’t pay anything, but it is one of the more important things I’ve ever tried to compose.
You guessed it folks, I’m trying to write my wedding vows. And since the church frowns on phrases like “We have compatible weirdness”, “I knew she was the one when she said she liked Futurama”, and “our booze consumption is mutually efficient”, I’ve had to actually come up with worthwhile words. For anyone who reads this site, all 7 of you can likely attest More >

I have not abandoned ye, bloggosphere. I have just been busy with other things. No, of course not, there isn’t anyone else! That’s crazy talk, I haven’t been seeing another blog, you’re crazy badlydrawnmonsters.
OK FINE! I admit it, I have a new time drain in my life, and its name is WEDDING.
Our original plan was for summer of next year. Then things fell into place, and we decided to move it up to summer of this year. This really isn’t that big a deal, except now I have an unexpected hobby.
We divided up the tasks for this wedding, and I More >
